Registration: 9:00- 9:25am
Workshop: 9:30am-12:30pm
In-Person Only
About the workshop:
This workshop will be a hands-on experience using materials from The Complete Musician , a five-year curriculum for teaching aural literacy to young violinists. Principles will apply to other string instruments as well. Emphasis will be given to singing as the vehicle for developing inner hearing, which is used for building technique on the instrument and gaining aural literacy (hearing in your head what you see on the page). Learning will follow most North American Kodály sequences which use folk songs of those cultures and literature from the classical repertoire. Participants are encouraged to bring a violin to the classes.
