Pomona College Orchestra: Tchaikovsky’s Fifth

About this event

If a symphony can wear its heart on its sleeve, Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony certainly does. From the plaintive yearning of its famous horn solo to the emotional arc of its recurring themes, this music compels even the most well-versed aficionado to relish each opportunity to hear it live. Alongside this masterwork, the orchestra will play Lyadov’s delicate tone poem The Enchanted Lake and Bernard Herrmann’s film score suite to the Alfred Hitchcock thriller Vertigo.

Under leadership of Eric Lindholm, the Pomona College Orchestra regularly presents four programs a year in Bridges Hall of Music and is one of the largest and most prestigious performing organizations on campus.

Program: Lyadov — The Enchanted Lake Herrmann — Vertigo suite Tchaikovsky - Symphony No. 5 in E minor
