- ➤ On Jan. 10, six shelter dogs departed Van Nuys Airport in a new partnership between San Bernardino County Animal Care and Wings of Rescue + the effort aims to ease shelter crowding and help the dogs find new homes; future flights will include more pets from local shelters. San Bernardino County
- ➤ With the help of the One-Stop TAY Center, Kai overcame personal loss and homelessness through therapy and shelter-bed housing, graduated Army boot camp, and recently returned to thank staff + inspire peers with his transformation. San Bernardino County
- ➤ The County Library invites residents to share their library experiences during Every Story Counts week from Jan. 25 — 31. Residents can submit photos, videos and survey responses online to show how local libraries support learning and connection. San Bernardino County
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The San Bernardino County Library is hosting a bookmark contest for K–12 students until Friday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. Participants must submit entries at any branch or mail them to 268 W. Hospitality Lane — winning designs will be printed and shared countywide. San Bernardino County
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hundreds of volunteers joined county officials on Jan. 22 to complete the Point-in-Time homeless count across local areas to gather data for securing grant funding and linking people to emergency housing and services. Officials said the count is key; results will be released later this year. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Veterans receiving disability compensation saw a 2.8% rise in monthly benefits on Dec. 1 & a new one-unit home loan limit of $832,750 in San Bernardino County on Jan. 1, making home buying more affordable. San Bernardino County
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses awarded Arrowhead Regional Medical Center’s Four-North MICU its gold-level Beacon Award for Excellence in 2025, recognizing it as one of only two California units to earn the honor among (575) applicants. San Bernardino County
