  • Mike Kovack turned 75 on Feb. 3 by hosting a benefit at the Humane Society facility that invited locals and businesses to donate pet supplies. His event drew overwhelming support and reminded everyone to celebrate life while they can.  San Bernardino City News Group
  • Heather Lee, a US Marine Corps veteran, was named the 2025 Veteran of the Year at the 58th Assembly District ceremony on Nov. 26, 2025 (local dignitaries including Mayor Bill Hussey were present).  San Bernardino City News Group
  • Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino will host its annual soup luncheon, Curbing Hunger: Serving Hope, on Friday, March 27 at 11:30 a.m. The free event offers community members, volunteers and donors a chance to learn about hunger-relief initiatives + see upcoming program updates.  San Bernardino City News Group

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 34th Annual Black Rose Awards winners have been announced (the J.W. Vines Medical Society won the Jim King Founders Award and Carl M. Dameron earned Humanitarian of the Year). The ceremony is Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m. in the Santos Manuel Student Union at CSU San Bernardino.  CityNewsGroup

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Bernardino County will host its first-ever Saturday marriage ceremonies on Valentine’s Day. Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk Josie Gonzales will offer appointments at the Hall of Records, 222 W. Hospitality Lane from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to serve couples who preapply for a marriage license.  CityNewsGroup

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jayden Murcia, an 18-year-old senior at Grand Terrace High School, impressed on the varsity soccer field during a recent game against Fontana High while keeping a 3.5 GPA.
