- ➤ Sarah Newberry’s recovery was aided by the Sheriff's START and InnROADs teams after she connected with these services following her incarceration in Oct. 2023. She later completed rehab at Inland Valley Recovery Services in Upland in Oct. 2025 and now lives soberly with a job and her vehicle. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Delilah, a one-year-old Husky mix known for her playful charm, is available for adoption at local meet-and-greet areas in San Bernardino County. Free adoptions include spaying/neutering, a microchip, and vaccinations (conditions apply). San Bernardino County
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ San Bernardino’s Big Bear Alpine Zoo is one of only two Alpine zoos in the US, opened in 1959 as a wildlife rehab center after a wildfire and now cares for over 85 native species while releasing most rehabilitated animals back to the wild (including bald eagles). San Bernardino County
- ➤ A historical feature reviews the legacy of the WASP program for Women’s History Month, highlighting local pioneer Evelyn (Pinky) Pinckert Brier who expanded Tri-City Airport and set flight records during World War II. The story honors her contributions and ties local aviation history into the community’s celebration. San Bernardino County

- ➤ San Bernardino County Library partners with In-N-Out Burger on the Cover to Cover Reading Program, open through Saturday, April 18, where children ages 4 to 12 read five books or 300 minutes for a free burger voucher at any of the 32 branches via Beanstack registration. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County Library is celebrating Classic Characters Month this March with events at 23 branches featuring storytime read-alouds, themed crafts, and face-painting with favorites like Paddington Bear, Curious George, and If You Give a Moose a Muffin — check-out rewards are offered and prizes available at select locations. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is a vital wildlife corridor linking San Gorgonio Wilderness - San Bernardino National Forest and Joshua Tree National Park - with hiking trails and birding spots. Linda McCann of Redlands posted photos showing species like the lesser goldfinch - a treasure - and the preserve’s beauty. San Bernardino County
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ SPARK Youth Employment Program will open applications next Monday, Mar. 16 at 6 p.m. for San Bernardino County residents ages 16 to 24; only the first 800 applications will be accepted + job placements begin in June. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County finalized a deal with Fontana to purchase property for a regional navigation center that will offer 100 shelter beds and 100 recuperative care beds with supportive services. Partner cities will fund the project, which is set to open in early 2027 at (11109 Jasmine St.) San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County Human Resources will host an SBC LevelUP Live FAQ Session on Thursday, March 19 from noon to 1 p.m. via a virtual platform to help job seekers understand the county hiring process + build stronger applications. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Residents in San Bernardino County are urged to plan ahead when mailing deadline-sensitive documents since the USPS postmarks letters at the processing center in Redlands (not when dropped off), so requesting a manual postmark at any counter ensures timely filing for property taxes and other official forms. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Department of Aging and Adult Services Public Guardian is promoting health and independence during Senior Nutrition Program Month for over 14,000 older adults in the county by offering balanced meals through congregate and home-delivered services. Nutrition workshops and social activities boost healthy eating and community connection. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton received national accreditation as an Academic Comprehensive Cancer Program from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, confirming its high standards in cancer care for over 500 cases yearly (and its role as an ACS Surgical Quality Partner). San Bernardino County
- ➤ The Healthy Communities Initiative, a program of the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, recently met with Fontana partners to strengthen local health planning & share new online toolkits and quarterly meetings to help cities build resilient, healthier environments.
