- ➤ San Bernardino County Public Works celebrated the Santa Ana River Trail Phase III project after it earned two major American Public Works Association awards. Completed in Oct. 2025, the project added 3.5 miles of safe bike and walking trail along the Santa Ana River connecting Redlands and San Bernardino. San Bernardino County
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Apple Valley’s history stretches from early Native American settlements to orchard farmers plus a naming story that saw fruit production wane after the Depression. Incorporated in 1988, the town now honors its heritage with a historic clock tower in the High Desert. San Bernardino County
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Loma Linda University Health and CSUSB train a skilled workforce to fill technical jobs in the county. CSUSB will host the Defining the Future Conference in mid-April to connect students with tech industry experts and show how local education prepares them for emerging careers. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Today, SBCUSD removed external signage bearing the school's name and paused its use, referring to it as Middle School #318 while reviewing community concerns. The Board of Education will later decide on a permanent name, considering further community input. Inland Empire Community News
- ➤ Seventy students from Cajon, Chaffey and Montclair High Schools attended the Future Behavioral Health Professionals Symposium last week, hosted by San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health and the County Superintendent of Schools (SBCSS). - ➤ San Bernardino County and its Continuum of Care will receive $10 million from the California Department of Housing to convert unused buildings into permanent housing and expand services, plus offer street outreach, case management and rental assistance to help people avoid homelessness. - ➤ During Women’s History Month, Crisanta Gonzalez of San Bernardino County is honored for breaking barriers in emergency management – her decades of experience and innovative mentorship programs expand opportunities for women and strengthen community preparedness. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Highland residents gathered at the Planning Commission meeting on March 17 and forced the council to remove a proposed warehouse from its agenda, citing concerns over air quality, truck traffic, and lack of parks + the action may lead to further review of development plans.
