GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Transitional Assistance Department expanded its free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, serving 12,924 taxpayers and delivering over $25.3 million in refunds & credits through 11 in-person and mobile sites across the county. - ➤ County officials said that the Jan. 22 Point-in-Time Count recorded 3,718 homeless individuals (a 3.1 percent drop from last year, including 2,448 unsheltered and 1,270 sheltered) and credited expanded outreach, greater shelter capacity, and supportive housing investments for the improvement. - ➤ The Office of Homeless Services earned the Partnership Award on Wednesday, Apr. 22 in Rancho Cucamonga — recognizing its strong community partnerships and guidance through federal program changes.
