  • San Bernardino Valley College awarded 825 scholarships worth $800,000 to 577 students at its ceremony on May 6 in its historic Auditorium — the highest amount ever given in one year. Community leaders and donors joined officials including County Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. and President Dr. Gilbert Contreras — who stressed that the awards help reduce financial barriers and support student success.  Inland Empire Community News
  • San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools recognized more than 3,200 graduating AVID seniors from 53 high schools at the 29th Annual RIMS AVID Recognition Ceremony at Toyota Arena in Ontario on May 6— the event celebrated students with a 3.5 GPA and 94% meeting college admission requirements.  Inland Empire Community News

  • Cal State San Bernardino social work students removed nearly 500 pounds of trash from the Santa Ana River at Martha McLean-Anza Narrows Park in February — completing the cleanup in less than two hours with support from IE Waterkeeper. They used social media and surveys to urge local residents to properly dispose of trash — aiming to improve water quality and protect the river.  Inland Empire Community News
