  • Southern California Edison will host two virtual meetings on May 19 and May 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to help residents prepare for potential Public Safety Power Shutoffs during high fire risk conditions + the sessions will cover outage preparation, cost-saving strategies and available support.  San Bernardino County

CULTURE NEWS

  • In 1899, Cass Gaylord bought the county’s first vehicle, a Haynes-Apperson, and drove it through Redlands. Early drivers tested rough terrain and preserved records in county archives, marking a long history that paved the way for today’s self-driving tests.  San Bernardino County

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Rialto Unified School District honored its top teachers and seven classified staff on May 12 during a special ceremony. Honorees including veteran teachers Silk Jones and James Nava were chosen for their role in advancing student success and will be recognized at the county level.  Inland Empire Community News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Bernardino County Human Resources will host an SBC LevelUP Live FAQ Session on May 21 from noon to 1 p.m. to guide job seekers through finding county jobs, updating their accounts, and preparing for interviews (participants may ask questions in real time).  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County is asking residents to share their truck traffic concerns (including noise and parking issues) using a new Social Pinpoint map, with feedback due by June 3. The input will help plan truck routes that protect neighborhoods while keeping goods moving efficiently.  San Bernardino County

HEALTH NEWS

  • San Bernardino County celebrates Older Americans Month with its Champion Your Health campaign that promotes wellness, regular checkups, and nutritious meals. Organizers urge older adults to join walking groups and other activities (as advised by county officials) to maintain independence and community support.  San Bernardino County

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Stacy is a playful three-year-old husky mix ready for adoption at Devore Animal Shelter. The shelter invites community members to meet her during scheduled meet-and-greets, and qualifying adoptions include free spaying or neutering, a microchip, and vaccinations.  San Bernardino County
