- ➤ Kaeley Diaz, a senior flute player at Colton High, was awarded the $1,000 Dr. G Band Scholarship Award on May 16 for her leadership and outstanding musicianship. She served as the band’s drill sergeant and historian and was selected for the prestigious Youth Council—she will attend Cal-Poly Pomona in the Fall to study Criminology. Inland Empire Community News
- ➤ Over 3,000 graduates marched across the stage at the Toyota Arena in Ontario on May 16 and May 17 — including a record 20 doctorate recipients in a historic milestone for CSUSB. University leaders noted that many graduates are the first in their families to earn a degree and urged them to build on their diverse heritage as they start new careers. Inland Empire Community News

- ➤ A San Bernardino city council meeting on May 21 at Feldheym Library became heated when Verdemont Neighborhood Association President Barbara Sky clashed with Ward 5 Planning Commissioner Ronnika T. Ngalande, and police escorted Ngalande out after she interrupted a constituent—arguments from a prior neighborhood meeting escalated the conflict. Inland Empire Community News

- ➤ Boxing star Shane Mosley, known as 'Sugar' Shane, will be inducted into the California Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, June 29 at the Ontario Convention Center alongside four other sports legends. Born in Lynwood and raised in Pomona, he earned world titles in three weight divisions during a career spanning over two decades — a legacy celebrated by his peers. Inland Empire Community News
