On May 14, the Morongo Band of Mission Indians awarded nearly $400,000 in grants to 80 nonprofits to support social, education, and health services in San Bernardino and Riverside counties—each organization received up to $5,000.

Ontario International Airport has launched the Toiletries for Troops program at its security screening areas to let passengers donate new or lightly used toiletries that exceed TSA limits to support military members.

Calico Ghost Town is a historic site located three miles north of Interstate 15 between Barstow and Yermo where silver was discovered on April 6th, sparking mine operations that once produced $86 million in silver and $45 million in borax.

Walter Knott restored the town in 1951 and donated it to the county in 1966—today it is part of the county's regional parks system with shops, restaurants, and camping opportunities.
