- ➤ On Saturday, June 7, San Bernardino County’s animal shelters in Big Bear and Devore will offer fee-waived pet adoptions as part of the statewide California Adopt-a-Pet Day aiming to place 5,000 pets into homes. Devore Animal Shelter will host a celebration with a photo booth and vendor tables from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.—all adoptions will include spay/neuter, microchip, and most vaccines as well as free Kona Ice treats for the first 30 adopters. - ➤ On April 21, four Fontana Unified representatives were honored at a county awards ceremony for their dedication to student success in San Bernardino County — including principal Ofelia Hinojosa, who is retiring after more than 30 years, dance teacher Nicole Robinson, and community volunteers Jade Centeno and Maria Medina. Hinojosa received a Distinguished Service Award while Robinson earned an Excellence in Education award as part of the SBCSBA and SBCSS Spring Awards Ceremony. Inland Empire Community News
