EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students from Summit High's string orchestra are rehearsing for their 2026 performance at the National Band and Orchestra Festival at Carnegie Hall — the event runs from April 1 to April 4 and will include visits to a Broadway show and other New York attractions while the group collects donations to cover trip costs. Band director James Sharp said the kids are excited and plans to invite more musicians for a full symphony by the time they perform. Fontana Herald News
- ➤ Robotics students from Fontana Unified School District's Mango and West Randall elementary schools and Wayne Ruble Middle School will travel to Panama in October to compete in RoboMission at the World Robot Olympiad Open Championships as part of Team USA Robotics and USEL. The tournament runs from Oct. 19 to Oct. 21 and will test their skills in coding, math and problem-solving. Fontana Herald News
- ➤ A.B. Miller High School’s aviation program offers a two-year flight training course with a simulator lab and classes for pilot and airline mechanics. Senior Jesse Cuba completed a solo flight on April 30 in a Cessna 152 at Cable Airport and will begin an internship at Ontario International Airport this summer—continuing his progress in the aerospace field. - ➤ Progressive Real Estate Partners brokered a new 10-year lease with Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital for a space (8,400-square-foot) at 16874 S. Highland Road in Fontana, located in the Sprouts-anchored Highland Village shopping center near I-210. The Fontana unit will open early 2026 and provide pediatric urgent care for patients up to age 21. Fontana Herald News
