  • San Bernardino County is set to celebrate Fourth of July weekend with Regional Parks open from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the holiday and Lake Gregory hosting its 5th Annual Fireworks Extravaganza on July 5 at 9 p.m. with a ticketed private viewing party offering dinner and live music.  San Bernardino County
  • Bloomington Parks and Recreation hosted its first Summer Senior Prom at Ayala Park Community Center where 118 seniors danced, enjoyed a catered meal by Family Service Association, and experienced live entertainment and professional photography by Rene Alexander. Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Joe Baca, Jr. attended the event and helped crown the 2025 prom king and queen — marking the start of a new annual tradition.  San Bernardino County
  • Benjamin Mena of San Bernardino needed a fresh start after working seasonal construction jobs, so he joined the Workforce Development Board’s Prison to Employment program at America’s Job Center of California and completed a four‑week trucking certification course under the guidance of specialist Larry Aragon. He now works full‑time at Elite Pallets Solutions & is exploring further training opportunities for a more stable future.  San Bernardino County

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Grand Terrace Chamber of Commerce helped transform a small agricultural community into a thriving city officially incorporated in 1978; its growth came from 1800s land grants, Mormon settlers, and projects like the Gage Canal + key investments that spurred development. After a severe 1913 freeze reshaped local crops, the community evolved and earned recognition as a top place to live + with over 12,000 residents calling it home.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino Valley College alumnae Mariana Lapizco and Briana Navarro won an Emmy on June 21 in San Diego for KVCR Public Media’s documentary The Warehouse Empire — a film that examines how the local warehouse boom has affected Inland communities.   • San Bernardino County Museum will open the exhibition Potential Space: A Serious Look at Child’s Play by photographer Nancy Richards Farese on July 1.   • Dr. Tagbo Arene, Clinic Medical Director at Mesa Clinic/Adult Continuing Care Program, presented findings from the M-BACK Study at the prestigious APA Annual Meeting to highlight the link between metabolic syndrome and severe mental illness in San Bernardino County. The Department of Behavioral Health remains committed to improving provider training and integrated care—efforts that will enhance both mental and physical health outcomes for local residents.  San Bernardino County
