- ➤ Alfredo Garcia Venegas was arrested without incident after allegedly hitting a 16-year-old student riding her bike near Etiwanda High School on Aug. 6 at 7:30 a.m. — police said the injured student is in critical condition at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and his white Ford Ranger was later found in Montclair. - ➤ Markel Charles Jones of Fontana pleaded guilty on July 23 to voluntary manslaughter for supplying fentanyl-laced counterfeit pills that caused the overdose death of 20-year-old Angel DeLeon in Riverside—he faces an 11-year state prison sentence. Inland Empire Community News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Real Journey Academies reported graduation rates above 95% at its San Bernardino and Fontana high schools in 2024, which exceeded the state average and prepared students for business, career, or college with hands-on learning. The charter network also offered dual-enrollment and specialized career tracks along with a partnership with UC Riverside (providing two years of tuition-free college for qualifying students).
