  • Assemblyman Tom Lackey presented a certificate to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo staff on Aug. 7, recognizing the zoo as the 34th Assembly District’s Small Business of the Month for its wildlife service and education — a milestone that underscores its role in Big Bear Valley.  San Bernardino County
  • Bloomington held its fourth annual National Night Out at Ayala Park on Aug. 5 where a new Veterans Monument was unveiled to honor local heroes. The event featured a flag ceremony by the Marine Corps from the Fontana Recruiting Station, a National Anthem by Adalia De Luna, and remarks by county official Michael Vu and community supporter Dave Jayne—using a design of steel, aluminum and concrete meant to last for generations.  San Bernardino County
  • Andrés Garcia submitted stunning photos of his favorite county destination, Lake Arrowhead — nicknamed the Alps of Southern California for its waterfront shops, outlet stores, restaurants and outdoor activities like hiking, biking and fishing.  San Bernardino County
  • Families gathered on July 29 at Ayala Park in Bloomington to celebrate a new splashpad built on a $1.4 million project offering 23 spray features, two slides, tipping water buckets and an outdoor shower. The 1,257-square-foot pad was designed with accessibility and sustainability in mind and now serves as a cooling zone for families during the hot summer months — officials say it promotes fun and community connection.  San Bernardino County

  • Vice Chair Joe Baca, Jr will host a San Bernardino County Development Services open house at Ayala Park on Aug. 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. — county experts will offer guidance on key services — including code enforcement, building and safety, and planning.  San Bernardino County
  • Congressman David Rouzer toured San Bernardino County on Aug. 5 to review key roads, wildfire risk areas, and goods movement corridors. The visit—hosted by county officials—highlighted the need for federal funding to improve public safety and support regional logistics.  San Bernardino County

HEALTH NEWS

  • Arrowhead Regional Medical Center unveiled its new Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit on Aug. 7, where ARMC CEO Andrew Goldfrach highlighted California’s first adolescent behavioral health emergency room—designed to offer safe, specialized care for young patients. The unit also provides inpatient therapy groups and other support—marking a major investment in mental health services for the county.  San Bernardino County
