- ➤ On Aug 15, San Bernardino County Preschool Services educators and staff completed their annual PreService training at the Ontario Convention Center to improve their teaching methods and self-care practices—session topics included classroom strategies, STEM education, inclusion, and county hiring guidelines. The training, held over 20 sessions, equipped participants with updated techniques to support students and families. San Bernardino County
- ➤ During September, San Bernardino County Library partners with the County Museum to host Library Card Sign-Up Month—its One Card, Endless Possibilities campaign invites residents to sign up for a free card that unlocks books, digital tools and programs for learning. San Bernardino County

- ➤ After losing his HVAC job at Fort Irwin, Kevin Bourke fell into homelessness in a riverbed and struggled with substance abuse until the Sheriff’s H.O.P.E. team stepped in with a housing program. He detoxed, joined AA, and earned a housing voucher + now lives in an apartment while helping others recover. San Bernardino County
- ➤ The San Bernardino County Probation Department won a prestigious NACo Achievement Award for its new Probation Account Auditing Tracking System—PAATS—that speeds up audits and saves taxpayer dollars while strengthening security. The department developed PAATS in collaboration with the Innovation and Technology Department to improve account management. San Bernardino County
- ➤ ICEMA held internal training and partnered with PCI Gases to convert two trailers into mobile oxygen filling stations—these trailers will help hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and emergency services during major disasters in San Bernardino County. San Bernardino County
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health announced community events for National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and National Recovery Month this September—these include a commission meeting on Sept. 4 in Rialto, a family festival called Annual Recovery Happens on Sept. 6 in Redlands, a concert on Sept. 25 at San Bernardino Valley College, and free SafeTALK training sessions in several local cities. - ➤ The Women, Infants and Children Program hosted a Community Baby Shower and Health Fair on Aug. 9 at the Dorothy Inghram Learning Center to promote breastfeeding and infant health in San Bernardino. Local public health officials and community organizations provided panels, resources and essential supplies — a gesture that supports family wellness. San Bernardino County

- ➤ Etiwanda Falls Trail in Rancho Cucamonga is a popular 3.2-mile hiking route that leads to waterfalls and beautiful scenery, including rivers, wildflowers and wildlife. The moderately challenging trail takes about two hours to complete and is open year-round — visitors can enjoy an easy outdoor adventure any time. San Bernardino County
