  • On Aug. 5th, Code Enforcement officers attended Bloomington’s fourth annual National Night Out at Ayala Park—where they met with families, veterans, and over 30 community groups. They also helped distribute backpacks with school supplies at Zimmermann Elementary for over 600 students during a back-to-school event.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County Library was honored with three NACo Achievement Awards for its innovative programs that helped evacuees during the 2024 Line and Bridge Fires, launched a digital animation lab—created with Garner Holt Education Through Imagination—at the Fontana Lewis Library and Technology Center, and started a teen leadership program.   • Artesia Sawdust Products, a family-run business in San Bernardino County, has recycled wood waste into mulch and soil amendments for over six decades—facing challenges like rising costs and aging equipment.   • Thomas Jackson of Redlands submitted photos of Pioneertown—an historic filming location established in 1946 that features an Old West town style with retail stores, dining, and campsites. EDUCATION NEWS

  • High School Voter Education Weeks will run from Sept. 15 to 26 as high schools across the county join a push for voter registration and civic learning. A starter kit offers guidelines, checklists, and social media posts to help schools and families participate in this effort.  San Bernardino County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Bernardino County Animal Care partnered with ARFF and MetLife Pet Insurance to offer adopters 30 days of free pet insurance that covers up to $500 for accidents and illnesses—new and previous adopters from county shelters can use this plan at any licensed veterinarian.  San Bernardino County
  • At its Sept 9 meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved $465,000 in funding for a mobile health clinic, school police equipment and literacy programs—along with key contracts, grant awards and Head Start agreements for public safety, health and workforce training. They also set multi-year snow removal agreements to keep roads clear—actions that reflect the county’s commitment to meeting essential community needs.  San Bernardino County
  • The Cucamonga Valley Water District launched its second Did You Know video series featuring Second District Supervisor Jesse Armendarez — highlighting its automated meter reading technology. Founded in 1955 during a historic drought, the District now serves over 200,000 residents and works to keep local water supplies safe.  San Bernardino County
  • The Board of Supervisors approved an ordinance on Sept. 9 that bans camping on county property to protect individuals from dangers like flooding—wildfire, extreme heat, and traffic risks—and to connect them with housing and supportive services. HEALTH NEWS

  • San Bernardino County's Department of Public Health is teaming with Count the Kicks and First 5 San Bernardino to promote stillbirth prevention by teaching parents to monitor baby movements from 28 weeks—research shows that this tracking can help prevent nearly 30% of stillbirths. Health officials expect the program to save lives—improving care for the more than 500 local families affected by stillbirth each year.  San Bernardino County
  • Arrowhead Regional Medical Center operates mobile health clinics that provide screenings, immunizations, lab tests, and chronic illness care directly to neighborhoods in San Bernardino County—these services include a 40-foot mobile unit with exam rooms and a mobile asthma clinic that visits 40 school sites every six weeks to offer evaluations and care plans.  San Bernardino County
