COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Early Bird registration for the Fun Color Run is now open for walkers, strollers, and dogs on a leash at the Civic Center Amphitheater parking lot. The untimed race will occur on November 15 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.—registration is available online and in person from September 2 through November 13 with fees varying by age.  CityNewsGroup
  • San Bernardino earned a Clean California designation after a national study called it the 'dirtiest city' and local groups, led by David Friedman, organized cleanups (20 groups worked on anti-littering projects) to improve downtown. The city will soon add extra trash cans in streets and parking garages, which will unlock new grants and resources.  Inland Empire Community News
  • Today, San Bernardino’s Mount Vernon Bridge reopened following a long rebuild — the updated structure now features wider roadways and safer pedestrian walkways that will ease congestion and support thousands of daily commuters.   • AcademyGO will celebrate 25 years of empowering the nonprofit community at its 'Because of You' Anniversary Luncheon on October 9 at 11:00 am at the Eastvale Community Center—where nonprofit leaders, funders, and community professionals gather to honor past achievements and invest in future growth. Founded in Barstow in 2000, the organization has trained more than 2,500 professionals and helped raise over $130 million to support local initiatives.  San Bernardino City News Group

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Riverside and San Bernardino County students and families can claim a CalKIDS Scholarship account now that the school year is underway. Over 74% of public school students qualify for up to $1,500 in funds for higher education, and the program launched in 2022 as part of a $354 million investment invites families to secure funds online—boosting future education opportunities.  San Bernardino City News Group
  • This September, San Bernardino County Library and San Bernardino County Museum are partnering to offer a free library card that gives residents access to books, online resources, and classes—helping them learn new skills and explore new ideas.  San Bernardino City News Group

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Grand Terrace Cars & Coffee group completed a shower conversion and retiling at the City Hall complex to convert a building into a Sheriff's Substation after a project that took over 100 hours in 14 days. City Manager Konrad Bolowich and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will next review the city’s budget and staffing to secure an official designation for the substation.  CityNewsGroup
