- ➤ The 22nd Apple Valley Airshow—popular with families—will be held on Oct. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Apple Valley Airport, featuring vintage jets, a car and motorcycle show, skydivers and a STEM Expo. General admission is $15 cash, with military discounts available and free parking. San Bernardino County
- ➤ Sleiman Moussa of Rialto submitted striking photos of Jenks Lake—a destination in the San Bernardino National Forest located in Angelus Oaks that offers peaceful walks and fishing spots. Visitors can enjoy quiet picnics and relaxed outdoor time at this scenic site. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino residents will join the Take Me Home Tailgate event at the Devore and Big Bear Shelters on Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—free adoptions come with spay/neuter, a microchip, vaccinations, pet resources, and snacks to help find new family members. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County is inviting residents to volunteer at Big Bear and Devore Animal Shelters—helping to socialize cats, walk dogs, and support adoption events—with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per month and a free t-shirt offered as an incentive. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health and San Bernardino Valley College will host the Sound of Recovery Concert on Sept. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the College Auditorium—this event will feature music, storytelling, and art to promote hope and share local recovery resources. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ San Bernardino County reminds residents that emergencies can happen anytime and urges families to develop an emergency plan as part of National Preparedness Month. The county advises choosing safe meeting spots—both near home and in the community—preparing for pets, and sharing key contacts to stay connected during a crisis. San Bernardino County
- ➤ On Oct. 8, from 12:30 to 4 p.m., the Public Defender’s Office will host the Mobile Defense Program at the Adelanto Plaza — Event Center to offer free legal help, including clearing records and resolving bench warrants, while county departments provide healthcare, job support, and vital records services. Residents with pending cases can also get family law and child support guidance from the Superior Court and community partners. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County Development Services will host an open house on Sept. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Apple Valley Conference Center where former Col. Paul Cook, retired, and county experts will explain Code Enforcement, Building and Safety, Planning Services, and Land Development—attendees can ask questions about permits, zoning, drainage plans, and AB 98 updates. San Bernardino County
- ➤ San Bernardino County offered a property tax break for veterans with a 100% disability rating, total blindness, or the loss of two or more limbs, with those making $78,718 or less receiving a $262,950 break—while those with higher incomes received $175,298. In 2025, 6,596 disabled veterans saved $10.9 million in property taxes, showing the county’s support for its heroes. San Bernardino County
- ➤ More than 1,300 community, government and business leaders gathered on Wednesday at the State of the County event where supervisors and student leaders discussed plans in workforce development — technology, mining, tourism and education. County officials reviewed key projects and outlined strategies to boost job opportunities and drive future growth. San Bernardino County
