  • Arrowhead United Way opened its National Veterans Chamber of Commerce in downtown San Bernardino on Sept. 23 to serve over 220,000 veterans with workforce development, mental health care, housing, and employment support.   • Terrace Hills Middle School hosted a lively Lotería Night that brought students, families and staff together to enjoy traditional games, donated prizes from Loud Burger and local sponsors, and tasty snacks like churros and elotes. Veronica Meiners discussed student wellness while Principal Afadonis joined a tie-breaker dance-off — the event celebrated culture and strengthened community bonds.  CityNewsGroup

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fontana Unified School District has 33 schools that received California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Coalition Awards for showing clear dedication to a positive school environment. The district said the schools will be honored — with 10 earning platinum awards — at a conference in Sacramento from Oct. 8 to Oct. 10.  Fontana Herald News

  • North America's first hybrid hydrogen fuel cell and battery electric train, known as ZEMU, began service last week in San Bernardino on the Metrolink Arrow Corridor—its engine makes only water vapor.   • SAC Health held a ribbon cutting on Sept.18 for its new Brier Campus at 1003 E. Brier Drive—this 280,000-square-foot facility built with an $85M investment and a $10M gift now offers more than 40 specialty services to help vulnerable patients.  Inland Empire Community News
  • Totally Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is celebrating its tenth anniversary by providing safe, effective care through its Acute Rehabilitation program that helps children, teenagers and young adults recover from serious illnesses and injuries.   • At Ontario Town Square, the Los Angeles Dodgers introduced their new Single-A affiliate — Ontario Tower Buzzers — with team mascot Maverick on Sept. 18 as over 5,000 fans attended the event.
