COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Spreen Subaru of San Bernardino partners with County Animal Care and ARFF this October for Subaru Loves Pets — a free pet adoption event offering spay/neuter, microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations at Devore and Big Bear Animal Shelters.  San Bernardino County
  • Jackie is a friendly 3-year-old German Shepherd mix who loves splashing in water, getting belly rubs, and playing with other dogs and is now waiting for her forever home at the Devore Shelter—each adoption comes with spaying or neutering, a microchip, and vaccinations.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at MacKay Park in Lake Arrowhead to celebrate the opening of five new pickleball courts that add to the park’s original three courts — providing extra outdoor play space for residents. The courts were built with 110 cubic yards of concrete, 35 cubic yards of decomposed granite, and 465 feet of fencing.  San Bernardino County
  • Mentone began in 1886 when W.H. Drew and N.K. Fairbanks bought 3,000 acres and named their project after a Mediterranean village to match the local climate and plants. The town was planned in 1897, built orange groves and a hotel that later served as a sanitarium, and now more than 9,500 residents receive county police, fire services and school support from Redlands Unified School District.  San Bernardino County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Southern California Edison + San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services, with Riverside County Emergency Management Department, will host a virtual wildfire safety meeting on Oct.2 from 6-7:30 p.m. to help residents learn how to prepare for planned power shutoffs and discuss cost-saving strategies.  San Bernardino County
  • ATC Ensen Mason warned taxpayers that scammers may send fake bills or make fraudulent phone calls as secured property tax bills will be mailed in early October—residents should use only the official website to pay and verify any suspicious contacts. County officials stress that the Assessor’s Office never collects property tax payments.  San Bernardino County
  • At its September 23 meeting, the Board of Supervisors set aside over $3.4 million in funds for local projects like a new baseball field at the school and gym fixes in Rialto, while also approving more than $6.5 million for foster care health services and a contract of $8.5 million for mobile crisis response starting Oct. 1 — additional grants were given for homelessness help, insurance fraud cases, job training and a Detector Dog program.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County officials continued to clear mudslides and debris from heavy rains on Sept. 18 that affected Oak Glen and Forest Falls—emergency crews removed thousands of cubic yards while road teams worked to restore Highway 38 as additional showers from Tropical Storm Narda are expected in the coming days.  San Bernardino County
  • The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority invites residents to complete a five-minute survey to help shape future public transit planning—guiding public workshops and funding decisions for improved mobility. The survey targets seniors, individuals with disabilities, low-income residents, tribal members and veterans.  San Bernardino County

  • Samantha Davis of Yucaipa submitted photos of Joshua Tree National Park in San Bernardino County, a popular outdoor destination for rock climbing and photography. Visitors can enjoy hiking trails—camping under the stars and viewing wildlife as they explore its scenic landscape.  San Bernardino County
