COMMUNITY NEWS

  • County departments of Behavioral Health, Public Health and Aging and Adult Services will host a free Fall Wellness Extravaganza on Oct. 25 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at San Manuel Stadium in San Bernardino— the event will offer rides, games and wellness activities that bring together residents of all ages.  San Bernardino County
  • Stella, a three-year-old Shepherd mix with a playful personality, is featured as Pet of the Week and available for adoption in San Bernardino County—she loves fetch, splashing in water, walks, and belly rubs and knows commands like sit and shake. Adoption packages include spaying or neutering, a microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations.  San Bernardino County

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kimberly Crest House and Gardens in Redlands is a historic French chateau with Italian gardens that now serves as a museum and venue for special events — built in 1897, it offers a glimpse of Gilded Age life in San Bernardino County.  San Bernardino County
  • The Pacific Electric Railway played a key role in San Bernardino's past by linking the region to Los Angeles, Riverside, and other communities in the early 1900s—its lines carried nearly 800,000 passengers before regular service ended in 1943. Today, freeways such as the 215, 210, and 10 trace the old routes of this historic electric rail system.  San Bernardino County

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Highland Sam J. Racadio Library and Environmental Learning Center at 7863 Central Ave.—Highland lets families learn about nature by viewing live animals like reptiles, beetles, guinea pigs, and rats. The center offers a Pet Profiles program every Monday at 4 p.m. until November 22 to make learning fun and real.  San Bernardino County
  • Students at the Academy for Academic Excellence in Apple Valley took part in a voter education event on Sept 23 hosted by the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters — two teams answered questions about voting and learned that 16- and 17-year-olds can preregister to vote. Registrar Joani Finwall praised the students for their enthusiasm and urged them to stay engaged in future civic activities.  San Bernardino County

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The California Department of Food and Agriculture announced on Sept. 25th that portions of San Bernardino and Riverside counties were placed under quarantine after several Oriental fruit flies were detected near Ontario and Jurupa Valley. The quarantine covers 131 square miles and residents are advised not to move homegrown produce to stop the spread of the pest— which threatens more than 230 types of fruits, vegetables, and crops.  San Bernardino County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The San Bernardino County Transportation Authority is asking residents to help shape public transit by taking a five minute survey for the 2026—2030 Coordinated Transportation Plan; they will hold public workshops in fall with a draft plan expected in winter.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County Fire partnered with Tesla for a training event at the San Bernardino Regional Emergency Training Center where first responders learned about Tesla vehicles, Megapack, Powerwall, solar systems and Supercharger infrastructure during a course lasting two days. County Fire Chief Dan Munsey said Tesla engineers answered tough safety questions and demonstrated future products—preparing teams for upcoming renewable energy challenges.  San Bernardino County
