COMMUNITY NEWS

  • San Bernardino County invites residents to submit photos of their favorite county spots — each entry must include at least three full-color JPG photos with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and proper photographer credit. Selected photos will be featured in the County Update newsletter, on the county website and social media pages.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County highlights Big Bear Lake as a key destination for visitors—photos from Rialto's Sleiman Moussa showcase its scenic appeal and local attractions.  San Bernardino County
  • Big Bear Alpine Zoo is hosting its first holiday light walk — Alpine Zoo Wild Lights, which runs now through Jan. 4 and features four themed light zones with nearly two million LED and solar-powered lights for families to enjoy. The event is produced by Visit Big Bear with help from the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to support zoo conservation work.  San Bernardino County
  • San Bernardino County Regional Parks will honor veterans and active-duty military on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) by offering free admission for one vehicle when a service member presents a military ID or DD214; participating parks include Cucamonga-Guasti, Glen Helen, Mojave Narrows, Prado and Yucaipa while Calico Ghost Town grants free entry only to the qualifying service member.  San Bernardino County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Bernardino County facilities are lit green as part of Operation Green Light—an effort by NACo and NACVSO to support local veterans. Residents, businesses and community organizations are invited to help by switching one light to a green bulb until November 11—showing support for over 90,000 veterans.  San Bernardino County
  • Fourth District Supervisor Curt Hagman starred in a new episode of Did You Know — a video series that tells a fun fact about Cable Airport, the world’s largest family-owned public use airport located in Upland. Founded in 1945 by Dewey and Maude Cable, it now hosts over 450 aircraft and remains run by the Cable family.  San Bernardino County

HEALTH NEWS

  • San Bernardino County Animal Care and The Paw Mission will offer free spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and ear-tipping for eligible community cats and free rabies vaccines for owned pets to military personnel, veterans and community residents in unincorporated areas. The services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11 at Sportsman’s Park (6171 Sunburst St in Joshua Tree) and each appointment requires a $20 refundable deposit.  San Bernardino County

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Sir Fur is a three-year-old Shepherd mix known for his calm nature and smart tricks—residents can visit meet-and-greet areas in San Bernardino to see him and learn about the adoption process, which includes spaying/neutering, a microchip and vaccinations.  San Bernardino County
