  • San Bernardino County Animal Care invites volunteers to serve at the Devore and Big Bear Animal Shelters, requiring a minimum commitment of 10 hours per month—a schedule that helps care for local animals while earning a free volunteer t-shirt.  San Bernardino County
  • The San Bernardino County Library offers a free day-use pass for California State Parks to cardholders (granting access to over 200 parks with scenic trails and historic sites). Residents can borrow the pass at local branches to explore outdoor wonders at no cost.  San Bernardino County

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Bernardino County’s Children and Family Services hosted Independent City 2025 for foster and probation youth (ages 16 to 20) to practice adult skills like money management, housing, transportation, and shopping in a supportive simulation. FINANCE NEWS

  • Nonprofits in Riverside or San Bernardino County may apply for loans of $100,000 to $400,000 from a new $5 million revolving loan fund launched by the Inland Empire Community Foundation in partnership with local governments — applications close Jan. 31 to support essential services.  San Bernardino County

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • CalFresh benefits were reissued to EBT cards on Nov. 13 in San Bernardino County after a pause during a federal shutdown (residents are advised to check their card balances) ensuring food assistance resumes.  San Bernardino County
  • On Nov. 21, California Housing Secretary Tomiquia Moss visited Pacific Village and Arrowhead Grove (which received over $69 million and $15.8 million in state funding) to review local affordable housing efforts. The visit underscored the strong local-state partnership advancing housing opportunities.  San Bernardino County
